When all is said and done, what will you need to accomplish in life to be satisfied?

It is a fine thing to be able to sit in a room quietly among family, musing to oneself and recognising that you have everything you need and most of what you want.

To be able to leave this world a little better than when you came into it; to leave knowing that you did your best and spent your time earnestly, it is a fine thing.

To be able to say to that you achieved what you wanted is a fine thing. Whether it was producing a large family of children and grandchildren; or created a business for helping others survive their torments.

To have created a place of solitude for yourself and loved ones; to have rescued and helped wild things in need; to have achieved a peaceful mind after years of internal torment. It is a fine thing indeed.

When all is said and done, what will you need to accomplish in life to be satisfied? For some, the little things are the most important but the hardest to obtain, while big achievements may be easier to acquire.  Will that degree or big salary make you happy once you are old and grey, sitting quietly at home? Or would the small things like close family/friends or community kindness matter more?

  1. The only thing I wanted to do in life is travel and publish books. However, I’m starting to see that my dream of publishing will never come true. Since I don’t see that happening, I don’t really want to live anynore.

Even as a woman, I have no desire to have kids or a family, really…

    1. Dear Akaluv, I am so sorry to hear that you are going through a difficult time. It sounds like you take a lot of pleasure from writing and that is great. Perhaps writing for your own joy could be enough for now and look into self-publishing when you are ready in the future? All the great writers took years of being rejected by publishers before they found their big break. Not having a desire for children doesn’t make you any less of a woman either you just have different perspectives and ambitions.
I’d suggest if you ever feel the need to talk more about what you are going through calling 116 123 for free would be a good start, it is a safe, confidential place.
